Junior Tour Trust Fund

The Junior Tour of Ireland is in its 36th year in 2014. It has seen some of the biggest names of Irish and World cycling pass through over the years. Current Irish Professionals Nicolas Roche, Dan Martin, Philip Deignan and Sam Bennett have all tasted success as have Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish and many more. For every other racing cyclist, the Junior Tour has proven to be the event that defines them at a very young age, that helps them determine how to approach racing in the future.

For the last number of years the Junior Tour has been without a title sponsor. In 2014 the last of its reserves are now depleted despite best efforts to secure sponsors for future editions. A proposal at the Cycling Ireland AGM to levy €2 on Competitive licences was rejected leading to a number of volunteers coming together with ideas to secure the future of this historical event.

A number of sportives are planned from December – February nationwide. With an amazing amount of kind offers of goodwill and donations coming in from the Cycling Community race organiser Alice Sherratt wishes to set up a trust fund for the events future.
