2013 ICL Christmas Hamper Race
This years Christmas Hamper Race was won by our own Shane Baker. Well done Shane!
Conditions were much better than previous years, with no rain and just the usual Batterstown headwind to contend with. The limit/semi limit group had a 3’50” head-start on the rest of the field with scratch/semi-scratch setting off together. There were 25 riders in total.
The second group caught up with the first group midway through the first lap with Shane and Sean breaking clear and establishing a 30sec gap over chasers Richie Dunne and some Lucan lad who were about 15secs clear of the rest.
Shane and Sean worked together (so the story goes) to hold the gap at 30 secs all the way round the second lap until with a few hundred metres to go, Shane broke clear to take the win ahead of Sean. Lucan riders took the next 3 places with Damien Nelson grabbing 6th.
